Privacy policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

Juru looks after your money information so you can see where it goes. Here’s exactly what we keep, why, and how to take it back. For the longer story, see How Juru handles your money.

Who we are

Juru is run by [LEGAL NAME / ENTITY NAME] (ABN [ABN]), [STATE], Australia. We follow Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and, for people in New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020. Questions go to hello@askjuru.com.

What we collect

We never ask for your banking password, and bank feeds are read-only: Juru can’t move money.

How we use it

We’ll never sell your information, show you ads, or use your transactions to market other products. We don’t give financial advice or recommend financial products.

Automated decisions

Juru uses software, including language models, to sort transactions into your categories, spot transfers between your own accounts, and word your check-ins. These only affect what Juru shows you. Anything unsure is asked, not assumed, and you can change any category or answer at any time.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of providers to run Juru. Each only gets what it needs for its job.

ProviderWhat forWhere
SupabaseStores your account and transactions; sends sign-in emailsSydney, Australia
VercelRuns the appSydney, Australia
AnthropicLanguage model that answers your questions and words check-insUnited States
TypeSafeSmall judgments, like which of your categories a transaction fits[confirm region]
StripePayments. Your card details go to Stripe, never to usUnited States and elsewhere
Meta (WhatsApp)Delivers messages, only if you turn WhatsApp onUnited States and elsewhere

Your data is stored in Australia. When you chat with Juru or it words a check-in, the relevant transactions are sent to Anthropic in the United States to produce the reply; they aren’t used to train its models. By using Juru you agree to this overseas processing.

Website analytics

We count a few product events ourselves (like “imported a statement”) to see what works. These never include amounts, merchants or descriptions, and no third-party trackers or advertising cookies are used.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete everything removes your account, transactions, goals, messages and bank connections straight away, and cancels your subscription. Backups roll off within [N] days. We keep only what the law requires (like payment records held by Stripe) and a one-way scrambled form of your email so a free trial can’t be repeated. You can also export everything first, or ask us at hello@askjuru.com.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export or delete your information at any time, mostly from Settings. For anything else, email hello@askjuru.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, in New Zealand, the Privacy Commissioner.

If something goes wrong

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the regulator as quickly as we can, and say what happened and what to do.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect.
